Description

Turn your waste in to a profitable product and reduce dust emissions and odor at the same time!

The Dorset Dryer turns your poultry manure into an organic fertilizer. Dried poultry manure is an excellent and frequently used plant nutrient.

Why Dry Poultry Manure?
  • Utilize residual heat during the entire year
  • Lower storage and transport costs
  • New sales and utilization possibilities
  • Dust filtering
  • Reduce emissions and smell
Dorset Green Machines dryers are frequently used for drying chicken manure with the help of warm air from the farmhouse. Most of these installations do not use pre-drying in the farmhouse, which leads to substantial savings in electricity costs. The air from the farmhouse that is utilized usually has a temperature of approximately 20°C. This is sufficient for drying the produced manure. Still, the higher the temperature and the lower the air humidity, the better the drying process will be. Poultry manure, either in a dried form or as a pellet, is an excellent and very popular plant nutrient.

The Dorset drying system uses plate belts. These belts consist of perforated steel plates that are linked to one another. The steel plates are pulled around by a roller chain. Dispensing the digestate starts on the top layer, after which the product is transported through the dryer via the plate-belt. During this process, warm air is pulled through the plates and product. The plates have been galvanized and powder-coated, in order to provide sufficient protection against aggressive substances. Because the belt is made of steel plates, it can carry a high layer of product on top. A high layer of product is important for drying efficiency.

The Dorset drying system has been certified by the government of the Netherlands as a technology that limits fine particle and ammonia emissions. The particulate content of farmhouse air is reduced (approx. by 70 – 80%). It is possible for poultry farms to receive a subsidy for this.
